Optical system to assist marine megafauna aerial surveys
It's a photographic and numeric tool with an optical system for marine megafauna identification
For the monitoring of Marine megafauna over large scale and adapted to their mobility, visual aerials surveys remain the most effective tool today, particularly for the detection and identification of animals and objects at sea. The eye is able to detect and track marine animals simultaneously in a wide range of conditions. However, there are still limitations, particularly in the identification of the species sometimes difficult.
STORMM is a digital tool to support visual observation. It uses both methods to optimise the quality of the data collected on marine biodiversity. It allows the synchronisation of shots with visual observations to confirm or specify the identification of species, the size of large groups, etc.
